Choosing The Right Surgeon
Plan to do some careful research before choosing a surgeon. If the consultation leads to surgery, your satisfaction with the result will depend on the technical expertise and artistic skill of the surgeon you chose. You also want to find someone with whom you are comfortable and who regularly achieves good results performing the surgery you seek. A good source is often a friend or relative who has had facial cosmetic surgery; a satisfied patient is always the most reliable indicators of a competent surgeon.
It is a very good idea to check a surgeon’s credentials before scheduling a consultation. Being a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons is a benchmark of excellence, indicating that the surgeon has received extensive training in their specialty and has passed an exhaustive battery of written and oral examinations. Most Rhinoplasty surgeons are trained in otolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat) and head and neck surgery. So look for these initials after their name FRACS (ENT).
Best to go to a full time rhinoplasty surgeon rather than a full time liposuction doctor who occasionally does a nose job.
Ensure your surgeon is a member of:
The Royal Australian College of Surgeons
The Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery
