Choosing The Right Surgeon

  • Plan to do some careful research before choosing a surgeon.
  • If the consultation leads to surgery, your satisfaction with the result will depend on the technical expertise and artistic skill of the surgeon you chose.
  • You also want to find someone with whom you are comfortable and who regularly achieves good results performing the surgery you seek. A good source is often a friend or relative who has had facial cosmetic surgery; a satisfied patient is always the most reliable indicators of a competent surgeon.
  • It is a very good idea to check a surgeon’s credentials before scheduling a consultation.
  • Being a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons is a benchmark of excellence, indicating that the surgeon has received extensive training in their specialty and has passed an exhaustive battery of written and oral examinations.
  • Most Rhinoplasty surgeons are trained in otolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat) and head and neck surgery. So look for these initials after their name FRACS (ENT).
